Opening Newer ACIS Versions in Inventor or AutoCAD Based Products


Problem

You have received a .SAT from a vendor or customer, but you cannot open it in Autodesk Inventor or AutoCAD. The error states that the file is a newer version of ACIS that is supported.

Autodesk products use the Autodesk Shape Manager kernel which supports ACIS versions up to version 7.

 

 
Solution

Download the free Acis viewer here.

  • Install the viewer on your system.
  • Open the file in the viewer, and save the file as a version 7 or lower ACIS (.SAT) file.
  • Open/Import the converted file in your Autodesk Application.
